Test: Juicers: "The claims are true: non-centrifugal models do produce juice that lasts longer and contains more nutrients." CHOICE Consumer Guide Test results for 12 centrifugal and non - centrifugal juicers from $100 to $749: CHOICE scored the juicers for: Performance Ease of use CHOICE Magazine also tested the manufacturers' claims that juice made by cold-press-style machines is more nutritious and that it’ll stay fresh and tasty for up to 48 hours. Key findings: All the juicers performed reasonably well, with even the worst getting a good score. Our tests showed that non-centrifugal juicers do extract more nutrients - in some cases double or even three times as much! (e.g. double the calcium etc.) Juice from the non-centrifugal juicers still looked and smelt palatable after 48 hours. All the centrifugal juicers have large, bulky parts that are hard to fit into a domestic sink for cleaning. Most juicers available through retail outlets (e.g. Panasonic, Breville, Black & Decker, Waring Health, Acme, Omega 4000, Jack LaLanne etc) are 'high speed centrifugal juicers', with speeds ranging between 1,000 rpm through to 30,000 rpm. Their main purpose is to produce juice as fast as possible, by cutting / shredding your produce at extremely high speeds. The result is generally an oxygenated juice that is heated at a molecular level, subsequently shortening the life of the juice to varying degrees. Most high speed juicers require regular pulp removal and cleaning, which can be annoying.

High speed centrifugal juicers are not true juice extractors, as the resultant juice also contains finely cut / shredded produce 'blended' into it, often giving the illusion of a higher juice extraction rate. Thus many 'high speed centrifugal juicers' are in reality a cross between a 'juicer / blender.' Although they cannot extract a 'living juice', they certainly can produce a "fast food!" High speed centrifugal juicers tend to suit busy people who are happy with a basic quality blended juice.

Cold Press Masticating Juicers ~ Up to 200 rpm:

We chew our food at about 30 to 60 chews per minute via a cold press masticating process, thus insuring maximum nutrient availability. If our mouths were to imitate high speed centrifugal juicers, we would be chewing at an incredible 1,000 to 30,000 bites per minute... That is rather unnatural.

Some discerning customers insist on using only 'Cold Press Juicers' with speeds ranging from 200 rpm and less. Cold press juicers are purpose built machines that extract a high quality 'living juice' for maximum well-being.

Although eating fruits and vegetables in their natural state does provide a substantial amount of vitamins and minerals, much of their goodness is locked in the fibre which is expelled from your body. However, you can obtain additional benefits from them when they are juiced, especially with a quality: low r.p.m. - cold press type - non-centrifugal juicer.

When you juice fruits, vegetables and etc., their goodness is released from the fibre and you are able to drink their highly concentrated nutrients, which are then able to enter your bloodstream very quickly and efficiently.

For Maximum Benefit:

It is recommended that you swirl the juice around in your mouth a little, thereby mixing your living juice with your salvia, which aids in a more complete digestion. This is especially applicable to carrots, as in their normal state carrots require considerable chewing. Drinking fresh juice before a meal often reduces hunger at meal time.

The Matstone / Samson manufacturer has created a new model (LexSun Juicer) with further improvements to the juicer, and this juicer has been imported into Australia under the brand name LexSun Juicer.

As the LexSun Juicer was warmly accepted and welcomed by Australian customers, the Samson Juicer was discontinued from our range in August 2006. From early 2007, the LexSun Juicer will be exported into many more countries throughout the world. The name LexSun is being raved by every owner and is a trail blazer already.

It out performs the previous Matstone / Samson model in the following areas:

• The LexSun Juicer produces much more juice as shown below.
• Even when juicing one or two kilos of pineapple it does not cause pulp congestion to block or jam the juicing screen.
• When juicing one or two kilos of watermelon the juice does not back flow and drip down the locking collar.

Two juicing tests were recently performed by independent sources, with the following amazing results:

First test - using one kilo of carrots (net weights of juice only shown):

• The Matstone or Samson 6-in-1 juicer extracted 465gm of carrot juice.
• The latest model LexSun 6 in 1 Juicer extracted 540gm of carrot juice.

Second test - several days later, using one kilo of carrots from another source:

• The Matstone or Samson 6-in-1 juicer extracted 457gm of carrot juice.
• The latest model LexSun 6 in 1 Juicer extracted 532gm of carrot juice.

Carrots from various sources can produce different amounts of juice; however, please note that the amount of extra juice produced by the new LexSun Juicer is consistent and impressive, to say the least!

The latest LexSun Juicer can do everything that the Matstone & Samson 6-in-1 Juicers could do such as: juicing, sorbet, pasta, mincing nut butter, mincing fish & meat etc.

You can now also purchase optional accessories such as the Ice Shaver / Vegetable Slicer and Oil Extractor.

The Juicing (& Mincing) Screen on the latest models can be recognised by the rounded lip, see picture above right.

The triple stage Auger can come in several colours; however, the LexSun Auger will not fit in the older Samson / Matstone model and vice-versa.

• Never put the pulp back into the juicer, it will damage the screen and makes void the warranty!
• Cold press juicers are excellent for juicing vegetables or a combination of vegetable and fruit.
• Cold press juicers often struggle with soft fruit (except the LexSun Standard Juicer and LexSun Deluxe Juicer).
• When juicing a lot of soft fruit such as pineapple or watermelon, add some carrot, beetroot or celery to help prevent clogging.
• When juicing apples - we suggest that you use Granny Smith apples (or similar), as they are a hard fruit and contain more juice.
