Cons

• The Kempo manufacturer Green Power is an offshoot from the original Angel Company, and the Kempo Juicer design is based on the Angel Juicer
• The nylon on the gears can be broken off if the user does not follow the Operating Instructions exactly. Customers routinely break the gears and they are expensive to replace
• Roughly 20% of customers throughout 2008 have complained of receiving their units with cracked juicing screens, or similar parts, which have since been exchanged. At this stage (October 2008) Green Power is not concerned
• The ultra tough tough poly-carbonate parts are not dishwasher safe; (however the stainless steel Angel Juicer parts are all dishwasher safe)

"I just read on your site the reason you have discontinued the greenpower juicer. What an '&%#@!#$&' of a company they are to have the cheek to blackmail you so as to deny your customers the best juicer available (Angel). If I was you, I'd tell them where to go and on principle would not do business with them for even attempting such tactics.

I've had a greenpower juicer and threw it out after I purchased an Angel juicer from you. The Angel is by far a much better juicer in terms of its construction and the quantity (and probably the quality) of juice obtained. Also, after a while, the plastic on the greenpower twin gears cracks which is not good for a juicer which wants to dominate the market.

I say, stand your ground and '$%&@' them off, for good. On a much happier note, I'm still thrilled with my Angel and the two distillers I bought from you. I hope Bob-Bruce and Ruffles are doing fine.

Most juicers available through retail outlets (e.g. Panasonic, Breville, Black & Decker, Waring Health, Acme, Omega 4000, Jack LaLanne etc) are 'high speed centrifugal juicers', with speeds ranging between 1,000 rpm through to 30,000 rpm. Their main purpose is to produce juice as fast as possible, by cutting / shredding your produce at extremely high speeds. The result is generally an oxygenated juice that is heated at a molecular level, subsequently shortening the life of the juice to varying degrees. Most high speed juicers require regular pulp removal and cleaning, which can be annoying.

High speed centrifugal juicers are not true juice extractors, as the resultant juice also contains finely cut / shredded produce 'blended' into it, often giving the illusion of a higher juice extraction rate. Thus many 'high speed centrifugal juicers' are in reality a cross between a 'juice extractor / blender.' Although they cannot extract a 'living juice', they certainly can produce a "fast food" juice. High speed centrifugal juicers tend to suit busy people or 'beginners' who are happy with a basic quality blended juice.

Cold Press Masticating Juicers ~ Up to 200 rpm:

We chew our food at about 30 to 60 chews per minute via a cold press masticating process, thus insuring maximum nutrient availability. If our mouths were to imitate high speed centrifugal juicers, we would be chewing at an incredible 1,000 to 30,000 bites per minute... That is rather unnatural.

Some discerning customers insist on using only 'Cold Press Juicers' with speeds ranging from 70 to 200 rpm. Cold press juicers are purpose built machines that extract a high quality 'living juice' for maximum well-being.

Single gear juicers have an auger (i.e. single gear) in the juicing chamber, which extracts a high quality 'living juice' in three stages:

1. The auger takes a 'bite' of the fruit or vegetable with each revolution;
2. it then crushes (cold press) the produce at a very low speed, thereby preserving the maximum amount of nutrients;
3. and extracts an ultra high quality 'living juice.'

In summary, single gear juicers:

1. Are economical and parts are inexpensive to replace;
2. are excellent for both beginners and experienced 'cold press juicing' advocates;
3. extract the same quality juice as their 'twin gear' counterparts;
4. have a slightly lower extraction rate than 'twin gear' juicers;
5. will not last as long as the higher precision 'twin gear' juicers.

Twin gear juicers have two gears (i.e. twin gear) in the juicing chamber, which extracts a high quality 'living juice' in three stages:

1. The twin gears continually 'cut' the fruit or vegetables as the gears revolve;
2. then crushes (cold press) the produce at a very low speed, thereby preserving the maximum amount of nutrients;
3. and extracts an ultra high quality 'living juice.'

In summary, twin gear juicers:

1. Are higher precision machines utilising high quality stainless steel gears, hence are more expensive 'top shelf' units;
2. are excellent for experienced 'cold press juicer' professionals;
3. extract the same quality juice as their 'single gear' counterparts;
4. have a higher extraction rate than 'single gear' juicers;
5. will last longer than the economy 'single gear' juicers.

It is recommended that you drink at least 250 ml's of fresh living juice each day:

Although eating fruits and vegetables in their natural state does provide a substantial amount of vitamins and minerals, much of their goodness is locked in the fibre which is expelled from your body. However, you can obtain additional benefits from them when they are juiced, especially with a quality: low r.p.m. - cold press type - non-centrifugal juicer.

When you juice fruits, vegetables and etc., their goodness is released from the fibre and you are able to drink their highly concentrated nutrients, which are then able to enter your bloodstream very quickly and efficiently.

For Maximum Benefit:

It is recommended that you swirl the juice around in your mouth a little, thereby mixing your living juice with your salvia, which aids in a more complete digestion. This is especially applicable to carrots, as in their normal state carrots require considerable chewing. Drinking fresh juice before a meal often reduces hunger at meal time.

Never put the pulp back into the juicer, it will damage the screen and makes void the warranty!

Cold press juicers are excellent for juicing vegetables or a combination of vegetable and fruit.

Cold press juicers often struggle with soft fruit such as pineapple. (The LexSun Standard Juicer and LexSun Deluxe Juicer cope with sloppy fruit the best.)

When juicing a lot of soft fruit such as pineapple or watermelon, simply feed slower. Adding some carrot, beetroot or celery also helps prevent clogging.

When juicing apples, Granny Smith apples (or similar) are best, as they are a hard fruit and contain more juice. Red apples are not suitable for cold press juicers.

Juice backing up the chute? In 99.9% of the cases where the juice backs up the chute and the juicer is not operating as good as it once was, it is because the tiny holes on the juicing screen have become progressively clogged after repeated use, and normal washing is not always sufficient to remove the dirt. Solution: Soak the part/s in a dessertspoon of Ezy Kleen powder and warm / hot water overnight; rinse in water the following morning and the juicer will operate like new. Ezy Kleen can be purchased here.

Note: We have found that when using the Fruit Screen to juice soft fruit such as pineapple, it is best to leave the Fruit Adjusting Knob either off the machine, or fully undone. This prevents / reduces any possibility of clogging. Pineapple is the hardest to juice with cold press juicers due to the natural surfactant in pineapple juice. If clogging occurs whilst juicing pineapple, put a carrot through to clear the juicing screen holes, then continue juicing the pineapple.

Likewise, when using the Vegetable Screen to juice hard vegetables such as carrots, we find that it is best to leave the Vegetable Adjusting Knob screwed right in. This provides the maximum amount of juice and a very dry pulp.
