The BL
30b Wheat Grass Juicer is a high quality, sturdy, hand operated juice extractor that clamps to any table up to 44mm thickness.
The juicer is excellent for wheat grass(barley grass etc) and all leafy greens, parsley, apples, celery, etc; but is less efficient with hard root vegetables like carrots which must be cut length wise in strips. The pulp from hard vegetables is not as dry as the electric cold press LexSun Juicer.
As long as a good mixture is chosen, the pulp does not build up and prematurely
block the strainer. It is simple to use, pulls in the grass and can do most things the electric cold press juicers can do.
Too
many sloppy fruits at one time such as pineapple must be avoided, as this tends to cause strainer
blockage. Juicy sloppy fruits
are best mixed with other more solid fruits or vegetables such as celery or carrot. Use the 'coarse screen' (large holes) when juicing sloppy / soft fruit.
This
unit does most things that an electric cold press juicer will do, but primarily is best as a Wheat-Grass juicer, and is also able to juice other items reasonably well.
The BL
30b Manual Juicer extracts approximately 126ml of juice from 200 mg of wheat grass, which is similar to the electric cold press LexSun Juicer. (Note: results can vary slightly from unit to unit.)
The BL
30b will produce one glass of juice in 5 minutes from a mixture
of carrots, apples, wheat grass, leafy greens, parsley and cucumber,
whilst retaining the absolute maximum of antioxidants due to a very
slow crushing speed.
Manual juicing becomes an art, and when better combinations
are selected, the unit performs at it's best.
One of the few juicers that squeezes so slowly, that it produces
a high quality 'living juice.'
In summary, this is a very good, high quality hand operated juicer.
New
Features include:
Extra strainer with big holes for fruit
A blank strainer has also been added which allows this
unit to: homogenise or puree make nut butters including peanut
butter etc make fruit ice-cream mincing etc
Coarse Screen: For juicing sloppy fruit such as pineapple and watermelon
Fine Screen: For juicing carrots, ginger, celery etc
Blank Screen: homogenise or puree make nut butters including peanut
butter etc make fruit ice-cream mincing etc
For homogenising, try almonds + figs, raisins + nuts, then roll in coconut. (Soak nuts overnight)
Please
Note: Manual juicers are manually operated. You will only produce
juice as long as you keep cranking the handle. A manual juicer obviously
cannot make juice as fast as an electric juicer. Conversely, a manual
juicer can produce juice when there is no electricity available.
Screens: Blank - Coarse - Fine
The
Rolls Royce of Stainless Steel manual juicers,
and a very valuable
survival tool that will last!
Congratulations on acquiring your new BL30 Wheat Grass Juicer. You have invested in a superior health tool that will likely become a family heirloom. The Juicer's hygienic stainless steel design makes it an exceptional product for those concerned about health and nutrition.
Before using the BL30 Wheat Grass Juicer for the first time, wash all parts in hot soapy water to remove any residue from the manufacturing process.
To assemble, clamp the Wheat Grass Juicer securely to a counter or table top, then assemble the parts as shown below, in the following order:
Place either the vegetable juicing screen (small holes), fruit screen (large holes) or blank screen inside the juicer body,
Then place the auger inside the juicing body,
Attach the rubber gasket into the top / end cap,
Place the handle on the juicing body,
Assemble the top / end cap on to the juicing body,
The wrench is used to tighten or loosen the top / end cap, however, tightening with your fingers is usually sufficient,
Use the plunger to push grass or fruit and vegetable into the juicer.
The manufacturer says the vegetable juicing screen is not necessary when juicing wheat grass or leafy greens, but you can juice fruits and vegetables more efficiently with the screen/s.
After use, dismantle the juicer, wash all parts and dry thoroughly. You may wish to store your juicer in the original carton.
Happy juicing!

High
Speed Centrifugal Juicers ~ 1,000 rpm to 30,000 rpm:
Most juicers available through retail outlets (e.g. Panasonic, Breville, Black & Decker, Waring Health, Acme, Omega 4000, Jack LaLanne etc) are 'high speed centrifugal
juicers', with speeds ranging between 1,000 rpm through to 30,000
rpm. Their main purpose is to produce juice as fast as possible, by cutting / shredding
your produce at extremely high speeds. The result is generally an oxygenated
juice that is heated at a molecular level, subsequently shortening the
life of the juice to varying degrees. Most high speed juicers require
regular pulp removal and cleaning, which can be annoying.
High
speed centrifugal juicers are not true juice extractors, as the resultant
juice also contains finely cut / shredded produce 'blended' into it, often giving
the illusion of a higher juice extraction rate. Thus many 'high speed centrifugal
juicers' are in reality a cross between a 'juice extractor / blender.' Although they cannot extract
a 'living juice', they certainly can produce a "fast food" juice. High speed centrifugal juicers tend to
suit busy people or 'beginners' who are happy with a basic quality blended juice.
Cold
Press Masticating Juicers ~ Up to 200 rpm:
We chew our food at about 30 to 60 chews per minute via a cold press masticating
process, thus insuring maximum nutrient availability. If our mouths were
to imitate high speed centrifugal juicers, we would be chewing at an incredible
1,000 to 30,000 bites per minute... That is rather unnatural.
Some discerning customers insist on using only 'Cold Press Juicers' with speeds ranging from 70 to 200 rpm. Cold press juicers are purpose built machines
that extract a high quality 'living juice' for maximum well-being.
Cold
press juicers are genuine juice extractors that literally extract juice
from your produce via a slow speed pressing action, e.g. 'cold press' masticating process.
Because the nutrients are preserved, the juice tastes stronger (much
better) and has a much longer shelf-life (especially when refrigerated). These
juicers are especially appealing to
health enthusiasts, sports people, convalescing patients and the elderly, as recommended by Dr Sandra Cabot.
Many people have been stranded in remote locations and died of starvation, despite being surrounded by various edible foods such as many seaweeds etc.
One frequently overlooked wild food that grows in abundance in so many places - is good old grass!
A major reason given for not using grass as a survival food, is because humans do not have a rumen to digest the grass properly. But there is another method of extracting the many beneficial nutrients from grass, and that is via a cold press juice extractor. In fact one of the greatest survival tools you could ever own, is a cold press manual juicer, which is perfect for those uncertain times when there is no electricity available.
During times of strikes, pestilence, famine and even war, in most places there is an abundance of grass beneath our feet. This information may just save your life one day, because although all food supplies may disappear, grass juice can keep you going for quite some time, at least until help arrives, or you are rescued etc.
One upside of living on grass juice for extended periods of time is that you will definitely look like an overachiever of the Jenny Craig program (weight loss program)! You will also remain hydrated, which is essential to survival.
One apple - two results! Juice oxidation comparison
Observations:
The ambient room temperature was just 7 degrees Celsius, thus oxidation took much longer than usual;
The first difference that we noticed was that the high speed Champion Juicer required about twice as many Granny Smith apples than the LexSun Standard Juicer, to make just one glass of juice, i.e. the LexSun Juicerextracts 100% more juice than the Champion Juicer;
Secondly, the high speed juicer shredded the apples at a high speed, which caused a lot of finely shredded pulp to be mixed in with the juice, slightly similar to a blender;
The Champion Juicer cutter operates at approximately 1,725 rpm, which is slower than most high speed juicers (usually range from 1,000 to 30,000 rpm);
The LexSun Juicer auger (single gear) operates at just 80 rpm, which is an incredibly low speed;
The oxidation process started very quickly with the juice from the High Speed Juicer and soon spread throughout the top 1/3rd of the juice. Within 60 minutes the oxidation was spreading much further;
The juice from the Cold Press Juice Extractor eventually developed a very thin layer of oxidation on the top where the juice was exposed to the atmosphere; otherwise there was no oxidation throughout the rest of the juice;
After 60 minutes the juice from the high speed juicer tasted much weaker than at the beginning and did not look very appetising;
After 60 minutes the juice from the cold press juicer tasted the same as the beginning and still looked great!
Summary:
Cold press juice extractors are a specialty item and usually take longer at juicing compared to high speed juicers; however, the emphasis of cold press juicers is on 'quality', not speed. While the juice from a cold press juicer can be consumed immediately with all nutrients intact, it can also be stored in a refrigerator for days and still remain fresh and packed full of nutrients.
On the other hand, when juicing with a high speed juicer such as a Champion Juicer, it is imperative that you drink the juice immediately after juicing, while the juice is still 'alive.'
Despite the oxidation caused by high speed juicers (which is even worse with higher rpm machines), please keep in mind that it is definitely better to drink a mediocre juice, than none at all!
Cold Press Juicers are more Nutritious - October 2007 - top
Independent tests have concluded that:
Non-centrifugal cold press juicers produce juice that lasts longer and contains more nutrients,
Non-centrifugal cold press juicersextract more nutrients - in some cases double or even three times more than centrifugal juicers! (e.g. double the calcium etc,)
Juice from non-centrifugal juicers still looked and smelt palatable after 48 hours,
Juice from non-centrifugal cold-press-style machines is more nutritious and stays fresh and tasty for up to 48 hours,
Non-centrifugal cold press juicers are easier to clean, do not have large bulky parts and are a great CHOICE for juicing.
An appliance that is used to extract juice from fruits and vegetables.

juice(js) n.

3. A
substance or quality that imparts identity and vitality; essence.
It
is recommended that you drink at least 250 ml's of fresh living juice each
day:
Although
eating fruits and vegetables in their natural state does provide a substantial
amount of vitamins and minerals, much of their goodness is locked in the
fibre which is expelled from your body. However,
you can obtain additional benefits from them when they are juiced, especially
with a quality: low r.p.m. - cold press type - non-centrifugal
juicer.
When
you juice fruits, vegetables and etc., their goodness is released from
the fibre and you are able to drink their highly concentrated nutrients,
which are then able to enter your bloodstream very quickly and efficiently.
For
Maximum Benefit:
It
is recommended that you swirl the juice around in your mouth a little,
thereby mixing your living juice with your salvia, which aids in a more
complete digestion. This is especially applicable to carrots, as in their
normal state carrots require considerable chewing. Drinking fresh juice before a meal often reduces hunger at meal time.
When
juicing a lot of soft fruit such as pineapple or watermelon, simply feed slower. Adding some
carrot, beetroot or celery also helps prevent clogging.
When
juicing apples, Granny Smith apples (or
similar) are best, as they are a hard fruit and contain more juice. Red apples are not suitable for cold press juicers.
Juice backing up the chute? In 99.9% of the cases where the juice backs up the chute and the juicer is not operating as good as it once was, it is because the tiny holes on the juicing screen have become progressively clogged after repeated use, and normal washing is not always sufficient to remove the dirt.
Solution: Soak the part/s in a dessertspoon of Ezy Kleen powder and warm / hot water overnight; rinse in water the following morning and the juicer will operate like new. Ezy Kleen can be purchased here.
